This Privacy Policy explains how Curiously Artistic (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you play our free cribbage game at play.curiouslyartistic.com or through the game embedded at www.curiouslyartistic.com/pages/play-cribbage (the “Game”). Our online store has its own store privacy policy, which also applies when you browse or buy products on the store.
1. Information we collect
- Account and sign-in information. If you choose to register or sign in, we process your email address, account identifier, and authentication information. If you use Google Sign-In, Google may provide your name, email address, and profile picture, subject to the permissions you approve. We do not request your Google password, Gmail messages, contacts, or Google Drive files.
- Player profile and saved statistics. We store any player name you submit, your optional marketing preference, completed-game results, scores, game settings, best-scoring hands and cribs (including card combinations), win streaks, and statistics derived from those results. Some unsaved or guest data may be stored on your device.
- Anonymous game activity. For guest and signed-in play, we use a randomly generated browser identifier and game identifiers to estimate unique browsers, games started, games completed, results, difficulty, and playing mode. A browser identifier is not a verified identity; using another browser or clearing browser data may produce another identifier.
- Technical information. Our website and service providers may process IP address, browser/device information, access times, security events, and basic request logs needed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the Game. Browsing the Shopify store may involve additional data collection described in the store's privacy policy.
- Communications. If you contact us, we process the information you send so we can respond. Marketing preferences are optional and separate from sign-in.
2. How we use information
We use this information to provide and secure account sign-in; remember your preferences; save and display your game history and statistics; measure aggregate game usage; diagnose technical problems; prevent abuse; respond to requests; and comply with applicable law. We use Google-provided profile information for signing you in and supporting your Game account, not to access unrelated Google services or to target you with advertisements.
3. Marketing choices
Creating an account or signing in with Google does not require agreeing to marketing emails. The Game offers a separate, initially unchecked marketing preference. That preference is stored with your Game profile and is not automatically a subscription to our store mailing list. If we offer promotional email communications using that preference in the future, you may opt out using the message's unsubscribe instructions or by contacting us.
4. Storage, cookies, and service providers
The Game uses browser storage (such as local storage) to keep certain guest game records, an approximate-player identifier, and sign-in session information. Clearing that storage can remove guest history and reset the approximate-player identifier; signed-in records saved to the account may remain on our servers. Cookies or related technologies may also be used by authentication, hosting, and store providers as needed for their services.
We use Supabase for player accounts, authentication, and saved game records; Vercel to deliver the online Game; and Shopify to host the related Curiously Artistic storefront and legal pages. If you choose Google Sign-In, Google handles your authentication under Google's own terms and privacy policy. These service providers may process information to provide their services, including in locations outside your home region. We may also use an email delivery provider for sign-in messages.
We do not sell Game player profile or Google Sign-In information to third-party advertisers. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights and users, or in connection with a business transfer, subject to applicable requirements. The storefront's separate data and advertising practices are described in its own privacy policy.
5. Retention and security
We keep account and game records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Game, maintain accounts and statistics, comply with legal obligations, address disputes, or prevent misuse. Operational logs and backups may have different retention periods. We use HTTPS, access controls, and provider-managed security protections, but no online service can guarantee complete security.
6. Your choices and requests
You can play against the computer without registering. You may edit your player name and marketing preference in your profile, sign out, clear locally saved browser information, or revoke Google access in your Google Account. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your saved Game account or records, email info@curiouslyartistic.com. We may need to verify account ownership and may retain information where legally required or otherwise permitted. Applicable privacy laws may provide additional rights.
7. Children's privacy
The Game is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has registered or submitted personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the Game, our service providers, or legal requirements. We will post the revised version here with an updated effective date.
